Most common marlin in New Zealand (Ref. 9258). Found between December and June south to Cook Strait but most common north of East Cape (Ref. 9258). Voucher specimen(s) held at the NMNZ. All-tackle angling record, 224 kg (Ref. 11441). Also Ref. 43, 89423.
